G33 Linear Rail System

When ACS was approached by the Host Broadcaster for Salt Lake City Winter Olympics 2002 to develop a Railcam system capable of covering Long Track Speedskating, the acceleration and velocity of the camera payload combined with the distance of tracking required a new concept in camera tracking technology resulting in the G33 Rail System. The 260m long G33 railcam system is based around a high speed linear motor drive and is capable of speeds in excess of 18 m/s. For the Turin Winter Olympics, the G33 went through an extensive upgrade process and was fitted with a Cineflex V14 HD mount and HD wireless link providing full High Definition coverage of the Speed Skating held at the Oval Lingotto in the city of Turin.
